CHILD CANCER FUND

Each year, nearly 100 First Coast children are diagnosed with cancer, changing their lives forever. Coker Law partner Dan Iracki joins his colleagues in helping local children and their families through his work on the Board of Directors and the fundraising committee of the local nonprofit organization, CHILD Cancer Fund (CCF).

What is the CHILD Cancer Fund

The CHILD Cancer Fund was founded in 1994 to assist children and their families through the challenges of a childhood cancer diagnosis and treatment. The nonprofit was established by a group of Jacksonville parents whose children were receiving treatment for cancer at Wolfson Children's Hospital and Nemours Children's Clinic.

WOKV 104.5 Care-A-Thon

Most recently Dan was joined by Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry to host the 4th annual WOKV 104.5 Care-A-Thon, presented by Duval Asphalt, benefiting the Child Cancer Fund. During the morning hours of the marathon, Coker Law played a huge role by matching pledges called in during its successful fundraising efforts. Coker Law is grateful to the First Coast community for calling in with their donations and providing critical services, support and peace of mind for families fighting cancer. 

“At the most trying and difficult moments that these families are facing, they have emotional, educational and financial support because CCF exists. That's what it's about. It is giving these families a sense of normalcy and comfort,” Dan said.

The nonprofit funds the Child Life Specialist at Nemours Children's Clinic, an integral position for helping kids get through a truly devastating time. It also helps families with financial assistance, providing gas cards, help with household bills and other expenses that insurance may not cover.

CCF holds numerous events throughout the year including the Josh Scobee CHILD Cancer Fund Golf Tournament in the spring and a “Grape Escape” wine-tasting event in the fall. 95% of donations raised directly benefit local children.

In addition, they sponsor a family retreat weekend at Camp Boggy Creek each year. The camp provides seriously ill children and their families with a fun-filled experience defined by compassion, laughter and acceptance.

“It is an honor to be part of this organization. We support kids and families, walking side by side with them during their journey and that's really important,” Dan said.
