JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 4, 2022 – Former ICU nurse-turned-attorney joins Coker Law to lead the firm’s medical malpractice team. Coker Law is proud to announce that Attorney Corinne “Cory” Hodak is now part of the firm’s experienced trial attorney team and will represent patients who are injured because of medical negligence. “We have attorneys who used to work for insurance companies before joining our firm to work on behalf of the injured, and they bring a knowledge and insight that greatly benefits our clients,” said Fraz Ahmed, Coker Law shareholder. “We are excited to have Cory join the firm. She brings an added dimension given her background as a registered nurse specializing in intensive care.”
Hodak has practiced law for more than 30 years, and fights as fiercely for her legal clients as she did for her medical patients. “Coker Law is well-recognized for their excellent trial attorneys, who tirelessly work to obtain justice for their clients,” said Hodak. “I am excited to be joining this exceptional team.”
Hodak received her law degree with honors from the University of Florida in 1989, and is a member of The Florida Bar and the Massachusetts Bar. She currently serves on the University of North Florida Brooks College of Health Advisory Committee. She is the past president of the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and the current National ABOTA Secretary. Hodak is an active member of several associations, including the American Board of Trial Advocates, Chester Bedell Inn of Court, Florida Bar Association, Jacksonville Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, American Justice Association, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Currently, Hodak is a University of North Florida Foundation Board member and is a Trustee Emeritus for the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law (active 2001-2006). Most recently, Hodak was named Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Jacksonville Chapter of ABOTA and received the Spirit of Giving Award from the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
